mischief managed... or is it?

I've been studying Proverbs lately and one this morning really stood out. Proverbs 11:27:

He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

Immediately something was brought to my mind.

I had some amazing friends. Seriously, incredible people. But their lives were so, so hard! Unemployment. Strained family relationships. Eventually, strained friend relationships and loss of friends and housing.

These people were really into practical jokes--mischief, you might say. And honestly? Their stories of their jokes were hilarious. Hilaaaarious. So funny. I would laugh until I cried hearing their stories.

However, real people were at the other end of their punchlines. And those real people had their feelings hurt.

There are over 300 scripture references for curses.  That is because, obviously, according to the scriptures, curses are real. They are very real. We incur them through our wickedness.

On an energetic level, curses are like targeted negative energy. If you hate someone enough, you might accidentally send them a curse. If you actually literally say to or about someone, "d--n you," you are literally cursing them. This can manifest in things like unemployment. Strained relationships. Loss of physical objects and money or housing or whatever. Difficulty with children. Health problems.

Basically, this morning I just had a really clear wakeup call: practical jokes might be funny, but the people hurt by them can retaliate in very real ways that cause just as lasting damage as the humiliation from the jokes.

How to handle it

About a year ago, a guy on a forum I belong to was complaining about his life situation--it looked a lot like the one above. Loss of job, tons of bills, strained family relationships, health problems. On a prompting, I messaged him directly and suggested that he pray about if he could possibly have a curse on his house (house meaning, his life/body/possessions, not literal structure--although that is possible too!). I suggested that he pray for its removal. And yes, I know how crazy of an email that probably was! But he emailed me back a few weeks later that he had prayed about it, and had prayed for God to remove the curse, and almost instantly his situation changed. Money started flowing in, companies sent apologies for bills sent in error, etc. This stuff is very real.

Everyone is at risk for carrying with them curses, or targeted negative energy, from their own actions or even actions carried out by others in a family line. So it's a good practice to regularly pray for the removal of these curses by the Lord. And it's doubly good if you've in the past been a person who tormented other people--even in the name of practical jokes.

He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.
